Icelandic Cross - silver pendant small

Cast cross from Iceland, Viking Age, 900-1000 A.D. The mouth of the animal forms the axis on the longest arm of the cross. This is considered to be a combined cross and Thor's hammer - a special Icelandic design from the period when Christianity was gaining favor over pagan practices. Original in the National Museum, Iceland.
