Written by Princess Märtha Louise, the Princess of Norway and illustrated by Svein Nyhus
This new edition now includes an audio CD with Princess Märtha Louise performing a lively reading of the tale with musical accompaniment, and historical background for the story.

Why Kings and Queens Don't Wear Crowns is Princess Märtha Louise's own story about King Haakon, Queen Maud and little Prince Olav who came to Norway 100 years ago to become the new Norwegian Royal Family. When little Prince Olav and his family arrive in Norway from Denmark, the little prince wants to do the same things as other Norwegian children. It soon becomes apparent, however, that building snowmen, sledding, and skiing are difficult to do while wearing a crown! What's a little prince to do? This amusing tale is made even more enjoyable by the delightfully witty illustrations of Norwegian artist Svein Nyhus. This new edition of the book now comes with an andio CD on which Princess Märtha Louise gives the historical background for the story, and then performs a lively reading of the tale with musical accompaniment. Music for the CD was performed by the Skandisk Symphonette, conducted by Arlin D. Snesrud, featuring guest musician from Norway, Steinar Ofsdal (Norwegian Folk Flutes and Hardanger Violin), and L. "Skeets" Langley (Piano Accordion), with other professional musicians. All ages will enjoy this tale, especially ages 4-10. Hardcover book with 32 pages and Audio CD.
